MUSIC PROGRAMS

New Bedford Symphony Orchestra

 

​​The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra's "Gravity in Space and Sound" program will be presented to the 3rd and 4th grade students of Little Compton's Wilbur McMahon Schools. This year's educational program will feature an exciting exploration of the gravitational forces on the motion of moving objects.

Atwater Donnelly

The Atwater Donnelly Duo will perform at the Wilbur McMahon Schools in Little Compton in December and again for Holy Family Holy Name School in New Bedford, MA in May. Their engaging performances will feature tradition folk songs and clog dancing.

Mary King

Mary King Trio will perform celtic favorites for the children of Wlibur McMahon Schools on March 31, 2017 and for Tiverton's Ranger and Fort Barton schools on April 13, 2017 in cojunction with National Reading Week. 

 

 

 

Tiverton Summer String Camp

Summer String Camp, sponsored by Up with School Arts will be offered to any string student with at least one year of experience  or any beginner violin, viola, cello or string bass student who has signed up to be in a performing group this fall. String camp is a great opportunity for any student interested in learning the basics or "tuning up" their skills before returning to school. Camp will be run by Mr. Michael Daniels and Mrs. Renee Bond, both music teachers in the Tiverton Schools.

Wilbur & McMahon School Band

 

Up with School Arts is thrilled to be lending on-going support to the Wilbur McMahon School Band program, which in turn has been instrumental (pun intented) in making the Portsmouth High School Band such a successful group of muscians. Many of the students from Little Compton move on to Portsmouth and become section leaders in the high school band.

New England Percussion Ensemble

 

The New England Percussion Ensemble recently visited Ranger School in Tiverton, teaching music, history, culture, and of course, percussion instruments, all in the form of a fun and exciting concert!

Johnny the K

Johnny the K recently visited Wilbur & McMahon School in Little Compton, teaching students to be kind, be their best, and build character all through song and some funny hats!

ART PROGRAMS

RISD Museum

 

UP with School Arts will once again sponsor a guided tour of RI School of Design's Museum. Fouth grade children from Tiverton will have the unique experience of viewing works of art that tie into their school curriculum- history, science and math, etc. 

Middletown Art Books

Up with School Arts is happy once again to provide additional funding to the art department of  Middletown schools for the purchase of several new art books. Karen Ramsey, Middletown's elemetary art teacher has requested funds so that she may continue to build a reference collection of art books for students and teachers, alike.

Middletown Art Show

 

Up with School Arts is also pleased to sponsor Middletown's K - Grade 12 ANNUAL ART SHOW event during the week of May 14th - 19th, 2017 at the Newort Elks Club. Join us in celebrating the fabulous works of these very talented students.

Nationally acclaimed award winning storyteller, Len Cabral will be enchanting the students of East Bay Community Action's Newport Head Start preschool through his vivid stories from around the world.
